Caregiver Advocacy Program

  • FRIA empowers and assist seniors and caregivers to resolve individual problems regarding quality of care, abuse/neglect, residents rights and caregiver rights arising from long term care services
  • FRIA intervenes with facilities and government, where appropriate

Family & Friends Councils
  • Supports family organizations at nursing homes
  • Recruits and trains leaders
  • Supplies educational materials
  • Convenes leaders' coalition meetings

Consumer Education
  • Community education meetings to teach advocacy skills and address care problems
  • Book, newsletters, pamphlets and website
  • Presentations to community-based social service agency staff, civic and service groups

Public Policy Advocacy
  • Speaks on legislation, regulations, public agency and provider practices and standards to strengthen consumer protection and improve health care
  • Trains and supports consumers to speak out on nursing home issues
  • Connects nursing home residents and relatives with the media, government agencies, and academic researchers
