FRIA commends everyone who has promoted these bills. 

Family Health Care Decision Making Act
Assemblyman Gottfried introduced the Bill (A4114). Negotiations with the New York Catholic Conference (the main opposition to the bill) are underway. There is no Senate bill yet.

Safe Staffing Bill (Staff Ratio Bill)
Assemblyman Gottfried will introduce this new bill and the Speaker of the Assembly, Sheldon Silver, is supporting the spirit of the bill.  Senator Hannon introduced a "Safe Staffing" bill (S4926) but left out important enforcement provisions.

WHAT YOU CAN DO NOW:
Put pressure on all members of  the Senate Health Committee to introduce the Family Health Care Decision Making Act, and to amend the Safe Staffing Bill  to include enforcement penalties for facilities that don't meet the minimum staffing requirements mandated in the bill.
