Chapter 1

The 2003 Medicare drug benefit law changes aspects of Medicare, including Part B premiums, prescription drug coverage and some preventive care benefits. Beginning January, 2006, Medicare will cover prescription drug benefits formerly provided under Medigap insurance policies and Medicaid. Chapter 2

Beginning January 2005, new state legislation requires assisted living facilities in New York to be licensed. A task force report, due June 2005, is expected to make recommendations for implementation of the law and regulations under it.
